I have never seen this many people at the Chriesman Community Center before, my observation would be, this is much like a family reunion, people from the area that have moved away then came back home.
As the afternoon progressed, it got so crowded extra tables had to be set up and I had to move to get a clear shot of the stage, this is a lot of people, good thing Don cooked a half cow, everyone was eating.
The first band, the Cypress Ramblers, doing mostly Blue Grass, put on a fantastic show from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and the crowd was HUGE.
At 4:00 comes Pastor Joe Dowling and the Dowling Family Band, they always bring a great show and before playing they pray, something we all should do. The Dowling Band is primarily Gospel music with some old country music, preaching, and humor thrown in for good measure, the Dowlings really are fun to watch.
After the Dowlings came the cake auction, and don’t you know I won a big plate of oatmeal-pecan cookies, I think they let me have them for $12 because after that everything went for around $25-$40, I love those cookies, I would have bid $20 for them.
Next, at about 6:15 comes Paul Schlesinger and the Perk Williams Tribute Band. I had not heard them before, I must say I was impressed, they put on a great show. I hope the video of them comes out, due to the size of the crowd, even more seating was required and the camera view became almost impossible. If you missed this event, you really missed something, from the size of the crowd, not many of you were absent.
From what I hear, this is a significantly larger crowd than last year, as the one who built the new website, I wish I could take credit for the turnout, but I am sure that is not the case, maybe it helped? I am really hoping everyone here does come and leave a comment on the show, that would be impressive in itself. I am just happy to have been here, I have had a great time just seeing this many people enjoying the show, Don Cook, really made it happen. Remember, Chriesman donates to the Caldwell VFW and Crime-stoppers as well, thanks to everyone that came.
