Roy Sanders got things rolling with a banjo original then switched to the guitar to play a song called “The guitar waltz” then “A feast here tonight” an upbeat bluegrass tune, another was “The banks of the Ohio” a sad song based on a true story, almost had me crying. Roy then played a special request “Barbara Allen” as Roy said, about a 300 year old song, what a treat.
One thing I have observed here at the Chriesman Community Center, is that there is a wide variety of music that can be heard here, music from way way back not just way back, We get visitors of all types, but tonight Burleson County sheriff, Dale Stroud came to visit. Gene Barber, the past sheriff, also known as “The singing sheriff” is a regular, and sings quite frequently. No matter how hard Jimmy tried, Dale just wouldn’t get up and sing, so for now, Burleson County only has one singing sheriff.
Jimmy Maze and the Milano Playboys took over with Jimmy Boedecker on vocals for a few songs, then , they started taking turns, singing a variety of old country music, of course the Perk Williams songs are a favorite. With this bunch you never know what they might play, but always an entertaining show.
At about 8:00 pm, Rodney Brossette, with his band, Joann Johnson and Bobby Rosier took the stage to bring us more of our favorite country and gospel music. Rodney and his team are always a breath of fresh air, their music just makes you feel good, Rodney even yodeled doing “T for Texas and T for Tennessee”, he’s pretty good too!
The music filled the air, sore throats and all, it looked like the crowd enjoyed it, we’re you there? Take a look at the crowd and see who you missed CLICK HERE.
